Backwoods Witchcraft explores the folk magic and witchcraft traditions of Appalachia through family stories, lore, omens, rituals, and conjure practices passed down through Jake Richards’ ancestors. Rooted deeply in the land, Appalachian witchcraft honors the seen and unseen beings of the region while working with readily available materials such as soil, roots, and plants.

Richards offers guidance for building relationships with local spirits, creating a working space or altar, and making conjure oils and powders. The book also includes traditional formulas and practices for purposes such as spiritual cleansing and creating wealth.
